Exhibition Statement

Temitayo studied at the universities of Princeton and Columbia in the U.S. Previously based in New York she is currently living and working in Lagos in her homeland, Nigeria. The first solo exhibition of Temitayo in Germany concentrates on her latest work. Temitayo channels through her work her interest in contemporary models of communication. Her special attention lies in the interaction between the audience and the virtual space to create a mixed-media illustration.  Her work explores the evolution of the present day and our understanding of it. Material, drawings and paintings become collages which range from abstract art to thematic illustrations.

 

Most of her art is site-specific, hence the artist will be present during the term of  the exhibition. The showroom becomes her passing/transitory residence. The entire project will be documented digitally and made available on the internet for a virtual viewing experience, making this an exhibition that is global both physically and virtually.
